The most significant of Jesus' directions includes love your neighbor as yourself. No exceptions. And considering that has remained through so many translations I consider to to be essential to being a Christian. In his lifetime Jesus broke rules (stripping grain on the Sabbath, speaking against Pharisses false teaching, disrupting the market in the synagogue to name a few) it's clear that He meant what He said. Love thy neighbor.
They are afraid of anything their male pastors aren’t preaching. They are afraid of thinking on their own. They are afraid of truly examining who Jesus really is. They are afraid of the “other.” They are afraid of being alone. I actually had to go back and edit this because where I wrote, “are”
I had previously written, “were.” I am so thankful I am living in the peace and love and wisdom of Jesus Christ in the here and the now and the present.
I’m reminded of episodes of Young Sheldon in which members of the Cooper family were shunned and viciously verbally attacked because of an illegitimate pregnancy. Souls have never been won by being hateful.
I have heard it said that Christians make up the only army that shoot their own wounded.
There was a time in my very ignorant youth when I could have had such thoughts about a variety of “sinners“ but God taught me through my own weakness. I am very thankful for the sins that have led me to realize that I am as vulnerable as anyone else.
Preach on, Sister. Phillip Gulley helped me understand the depth and length of God's love and grace. " if God's grace is UNCONDITIONAL nothing I do can make God love me more or less. There are no conditions to God's Grace. If grace is true, why ALL PEOPLE will be saved."
Then about the Bible... we all use a velcro Bible! Take out parts we don't feel comfortable with and insert our own opinions to make it easier to live with. Most of us do discard most of Leviticys!!! Love my bacon and shrimp and polyester clothing!! But men lying with men? Better keep that in!
Excellent questions! It confuses me that people who claim to be "born again" Christians and are so strong in their faith, can be some of the most judgmental and fearful people that I know. I found this with a quick search ...2 Timothy 1:7 - For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Using fear to control is a manipulating tactic. Good read today Kelly!!!

Keep the faith, Kelly!
Love that last sentence! LOVE > fear!
Yes! I have always thought that the evangelical God is too small. Probably why I'm an exvangelical now.
